What changed in my life you ask? Well, my wife and I moved from Massachusetts, where we have lived for 10 years, back to Connecticut where she grew up. This was harder on me then on her. The move happened in June and I ended up commuting 120 miles back and forth to Boston for work. YUK! That equates to 3600 miles and $700 a month in gasoline. The total commute was 5 hours a day plus my 8 hours in the office. This scenario took about 120% of my time so my side projects had to give. This went on until October of 2006.
During this same time period, we were holding two mortgages because the condo in Mass. hadn’t sold. I was completely stressed out to say the least. Having the second house caused extra trips to Mass every other weekend to keep up the other property. I am really lucky the winter was extremely lite.
Fast Fwd: I landed a job at CBS here in CT and the house sold in December. I am finally getting my life back so here I am]]>
I want to loose weight, get in shape, and become much less stressed out. I need not worry about things so much. I guess I am much like the society I live in. Everyone I see is stressed, worked to the bone, and just plain tired. It is just the way it is. The thing is I can say “That’s life” and do nothing OR I can change my programming.
I realize that who I am and how I act is very much a conditioned response to how I was raised. We all learn how to act while growing up. If we see a response to something then our brains make a connection that could later be played out. We hear it all the time, “You act just like your father!” or vise versa. The thing is we were programmed that way. If we dont like certain things about different family members then we need to watch out for those things playing out in us. If we are balls of stress and acting like someone we disliked as a child then the first step is to become aware. Now that I am aware, I am going to try and re-program myself this year. I am too obsessed about things and find myself asking “Why do I even really care about that”. When the answer is “I dont know”. Then I probably don’t need to care about it.
Blah, Blah, Blah…. My wife would say “Borrring!!” right about now.
I have the initial setup complete and have chosen a nice looking default style so I think I will hit the sack. I have to wake at 5am to catch the T into Boston and then workout before I startup my Dell (yuk). I love macs but the people who pay me use PCs. I hope to make site enhancements fast and furious (come back and check them out).
See you on the other side…]]>
