PhotoSharing Solutions
I am researching online photosharing solutions because Yahoo has drop Photos! This hurts because the only Yahoo! alternative is a Flickr unlimited account that costs money. The following are solutions I am checking out:
- Photobucket
- SmugMug
- Gallery (self hosted)
- Picasa
- Webshots
- ImageShack
I think there are probably many others….I just have to do “The Google”. Any suggestions?

Sort of depends on your audience and their habits, your photo organizing, viewing and printing habits too… Also what software you use on your desktop to manage your collections may impact your decision….
I personally use my blog and free Flickr for some ones that I’d like people to see(my k790a camera phone can post to either), and keep most of my other shots on my local drives or webdrives….

Although, I got an email today from Yahoo about their Yahoo Photo’s service ending… and they are offering free Pro Flickr accounts for three months(if you go through their hoops), enough time to upload all your photo’s with no restrictions. When they drop your account back to a free account, you may be able to get by as long as you don’t take too many shots per month or really need any of the ‘Pro’ features… I may take the Flickr jump for at least ‘public’ photo’s, maybe Family/Friend sets too…

I began with Gallery 1. When my archive grew I migrated to Gallery 2 (http://gallery.menalto.com). It’s highly flexible, and has lots of integrating features with WP. Hope that helps.
