Wordpress DraftControl Plugin - 1.2 Beta 2
DraftControl Beta 2 is ready and fixes a couple problems reported by users.
Beta 2 Fixes:
Fixed a problem where all metadata wasn’t being deleted during a batch delete.
Fixed a problem where if the $table_prefix wasn’t the default “wp_” DraftControl didn’t function properly
Installation:
Save the draftcontrol.php file to your wp-content/plugins/directory
Activate the plugin within Wordpress in the Plugins section
Usage:
Go to the Manage section of WP and then select “Draft Control”.
The controls are pretty much self explanatory.

I tried the Draft and the Post plugin and got an error message/
WP 2.0.4
Message
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/chinesem/public_html/wp-admin/admin-header.php:16) in /home/chinesem/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2448
These are really great plugins by the way. So would be great if in a new release this can be fixed.
cheers

Great plugin - I use it a lot to sort incomming feeds.
But it messes with another great plugin: Customizable Comment Listings from coffee2code.com. In fact all plugins I tested that gives information on comments, turns out not to work when the draftControl plugin is enabled.
In the hope that this will be fixed - Best regards, Anders

Sorry, think I forgot to mention in earlier post:
Comments plugins gives wrong permalinks when the DraftControl is enabled

Disregard to two earlier comments….
It is the FeedWordPress plugin that causes the trouble.
Truely sorry.
Best regards
Anders

When I enter in a draft from “Test User” and then go back to my admin, the wrong user name is in the user drop down. As a matter of fact, the user drop down only seems to have five users (and there are more than 5 on my blog)

@Justin
I will take a look at this problem soon….thx for bringing it to my attention. I am working on another version and will try to get a fix in for this.

Ken, since you’re working on a new version, can I make a feature request? I’d love it if this plugin could suppress the default display of drafts on the Manage Posts page in admin. DraftControl’s UI is much nicer of course, and it’s redundant / messy to keep the default display of drafts when this plugin is active.
Thanks for the plugin!

Thank you for making this plugin! It’s a huge relief from the headache inducing “other drafts” that Wordpress has.
1 bug: Right now, Draft Control says all my posts are “Uncategorized.” However, definitely that’s not the case.
I also have one feature request: right now it automatically organizes the posts by date. It’d be nice to have the option of viewing posts by category or *especially* by author. I run a group blog, so that would be a kick-ass feature.
Thanks so much! Great work.

Hi - Version 1.2b2 does not seem to be working with WP 2.2.1 (for me anyway). Here’s what I see when this plugin is activated:

I take it that’s not happening for other users?
Any idea what might be causing this?
Thanks,
Scot

I was very happy to find this tool (1.2.b2). I’ve installed it as a plugin for the WP module (v 2.2.1) for XOOPS (2.0.16). Everything looks fine. But, alas, there’s a problem: When I try to delete a draft, WP says “Cheatin’ uh?”. How do I get the DraftControl Plugin to work, either?
thanks a lot

Problem solved!
I’ve just played around with the plugin and the module, bearing in mind the above comments. And bingo! — here’s the solution: In the XOOPS WP module adminstration, go to options / discussions and enable the option “allow visitor comments” (sorry, I’ve only got the German version; hope you’ll find what I mean). After having deleted the drafts, re-enable the option. Works fine now. Tanks again

This will solve some problems:
line 331, replace ID?> by ID?>
line 332, replace post_title?> bye post_title?>
In fact, try to replace all

Thanks for this useful plugin. It would be great that if you add some futures like “viewing posts by category or *especially* by author” and “select all”.
way to go, man.

Please help - WP 2.3 shows errors…

I tried with WP 2.0.5 and works fine, thank you.
Why you don’t have it in the WP Plugin directory?

Hi! THX very much for that plugin, it is a real helper.

Thanks Ken, awesome work so far on this plugin, as it is now it is saving me a ton of work.
Along with the other requests to have it working fully with Wordpress 2.3.x, I would absolutely love the ability to somehow see a preview of the post in the Draft Control screen without having to hop into the post editor. Even seeing the raw HTML would be fine - I was thinking something like using a title tag to display the first 200 characters when you hover the mouse over the post name in the draft control screen, so that the post text will appear as a “Tool Tip” type window.
I get dozens of drafts a day that I need to approve or delete, and usually I can tell in the first few sentences whether the content is appropriate or not (when the title isn’t sufficient), and being able to do this quickly straight out of the draft control screen would be ideal.
Thanks again, keep up the great work.
- Tony

This plugin is just about exactly what I’mlooking for.
But, I don’t get any categories in Draft Control. I need to be able to change them, but I don’t even see them.
Is this a bug perhaps, or is it not working for that?
I am using 2.3.2 right now … (yes I need to update)

Two things:
1) If someone doesn’t check “Edit Timestamp”, then the time submitted is “Never”
2) It would be nice if there was a notice on the dashboard of any pending drafts.
Otherwise, this seems to be good.

Hi. I’m having the same issue as BK. No categories listed? No dropdown?
April 10th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Hi. I’m using WP 2.3.3. Everything comes up OK when I pull DC up, but isn’t there supposed to be a category dropdown? Under the category heading I see nothing, not even the current category. I downloaded from the link above - am I on the right page here?
